ARNSW Equipment Sales (Disposals)

ARNSW often has items of equipment for sale as a service to members. Unless otherwise noted, all equipment offered has been tested, is in good condition, and comes from non-smoking owners.

Transmitting equipment will only be sold to people holding an appropriate Australian licence. In the disposals process, the Disposals Officer’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

  • Most items can be posted.
  • Items that are too large or heavy for post can be shipped by Pack & Send.
  • Equipment lists are published in the bi-monthly All Access newsletter (emailed to members who have provided an email address).

If you’re interested in listed equipment, contact the Disposals Officer at disposals@arnsw.org.au for details or to arrange a site visit. Please note that we cannot accept offers by phone.

If you need ARNSW assistance selling equipment, see Estate and Equipment Purchasing below.

Trash and Treasure Events

Trash and Treasure sales events run as part of the regular “Members Meetup” events, generally held every two months at the VK2WI Dural site.

Sales include used amateur radio equipment such as transceivers, antennas, and radio accessories. There are also many other radio-related items, including magazines, books, electronic components, and used commercial communications equipment. Food and drinks are available at the event.

The event is also an opportunity for sellers to connect with buyers in the pleasant rural environment of the ARNSW Dural site. Space is available for boot sales, with cover under the Centenary Building verandah if needed. If a seller has a large quantity of equipment or requires undercover display space, contact ARNSW to make arrangements.

The event usually attracts between 40 and 70 buyers, sometimes more.

Trash and Treasure radio items

Estate and Equipment Purchasing

This service has two aims: easing the burden of selling equipment while providing a financial return to members, and providing an alternative to disposal for otherwise useful equipment.

As a service to members and their families, ARNSW can arrange the sale of radio and electronic equipment that is no longer required. This may occur when moving to smaller accommodation or when a member becomes a silent key.

The service focuses on items of significant value such as amateur radio equipment and test equipment. Other items may include vintage radios, rare books, small antennas, and valuable tools. A 10% commission is charged to cover handling and costs. Equipment is tested, and in some cases repaired, so buyers can have confidence in condition.

ARNSW does not sell furniture, computer equipment, or large bulky items requiring special transport. Antenna towers cannot be handled by ARNSW sales, as we are not qualified to dismantle towers and antennas, and our insurance does not cover this activity.

If items include low-value components such as electronic parts, radio valves, magazines, small tools, and similar radio/electronic items, ARNSW will gladly accept these as donations towards collection costs.

Valuable items are sold through ARNSW Equipment Sales. While reserve prices can be suggested by the seller, ARNSW’s decision on the sale is final.

A cheque for sale proceeds (less the 10% handling fee) is mailed as items are sold. Sales days are bi-monthly, so complete sale of all items may take six months or more.

Is this an alternative to online auctions? No. This service is intended to remove the burden of advertising and shipping from the seller. As such, returns may be lower than selling on eBay, but without the stress of completing many individual transactions.

Please contact ARNSW via disposals@arnsw.org.au or leave a message with our office on 02 9444 0123.
